Winner - Black and White with a Splash of Colour

Thank you to everyone for your beautiful entries to our Black and White with a Splash challenge. What a great response there was and we thoroughly enjoyed viewing all of your fabulous creations. So without further ado, our winner for this week is ... Lisa of You Made Me Ink

A fabulous card in every way, love the splash of blue on this spectacular black and white backdrop with such glorious texture and dimension, from the beautifully bordered frame to that great image (had a little giggle at this one) and of course those flowers with the pearl centres and jewelled hat pins provide a lovely touch of elegance and style. And who would've thought that a cut out newspaper heading could work so tastefully! Well done Lisa and Congratulations on being selected as our Top Talent. Feel free to take our badge to display on your blog.

It's not too late to still play along with this weeks challenge, "Over the Edge", the creations so far are spectacular, have you got yours in the gallery? We'll be back on Saturday with a new challenge and some new inspiration!

Just Say No - PLEASE!!!!

This week's challenge here.

If you blog much, especially if you are on a design team and leave a lot of comments, you have seen the new Word Verification format that Blogger has instituted.  This is making it very difficult for us to leave comments, sometimes requiring us to enter letters two and three times because we can't make out what the letters are.  We are all busy and while we love to leave comments on your wonderful work, we will no longer leave comments on blogs using word verification.

If you are concerned about spam, go to comment moderation.  I personally moderate all comments 14 days and older.  I find that if I do get spam it usually hits the older posts.  While searching the internet for this Just Say No button, I came across a very informative post on how to turn off word verification.  So rather than reinvent the wheel, I am going to refer you to the post on the Ramblings and Photos blog.  If you need help figuring out how to turn off word verification, there are step-by-step directions and photos to walk you through.  Thanks so much to Ashley Sisk for her very informative post on the subject!

You may not even know that you are using word verification.  I believe it is turned on automatically when you create your blog.  Now is a good time to check to see if you are using it.

Feel free to leave us comments on how you feel about our new approach and as always, we thank you for stopping by Our Creative Corner.

Over the Edge

Happy Saturday and welcome back to Our Creative Corner.

It's Tui here and I am happy to be hosting our challenge again this week. Thank you to everyone who took part in our Black and White with a Splash of Colour challenge last week.  There were a lot of fantastic creations and we were simply amazed at the stunning array of cards in the gallery! On Wednesday we will be announcing our Top Talent .... it could be you!

This week the challenge I have for you is "Over the Edge" - create a card, or paper craft item with a design element that is not restricted to the boundaries of the card edges, and continues to flow off the edge of the card, for instance this could be a die cut element, a sentiment banner, a fussy cut image, ribbon etc. Push your design to the edge .... and have fun!

And just to get your inspiration flowing, we have the very talented Karen Squires of Stampin by the Bay joining us this week as our Guest Designer. Be sure to stop by and say "hi", and of course our fabulous design team have some great samples which will surely get your creative juices flowing!

Your creations were gorgeous, as always! We hope you enjoyed playing along. So, without further ado, our winner this week is Maya!

We just loved the soft image Maya colored with markers.  She did a fabulous job!  Maya, included both flowers in her stamped image, as well as framing her focal image with paper blossoms.  How pretty.  Maya kept her color palette soft and neutral with little touches of detail.  Congratulations Maya!
And here is our Top Talent Award.  Please display this award with pride! Congratulations, again!

Now don't forget, there is still time to play along with this weeks challenge, 'Black and White with a splash of colour'.

Love is in the Air Winner

I want to send out a big Thank You to everyone who played along and followed our recipe challenge.  There were a few requirements in this challenge, and it seemed to have stumped a few folks.  It was tough to choose a winner, but in the end the Top Talent award goes to...

Carla had all the requirements in this recipe challenge: kraft, grey, and pink colors, some sparkle (her glitter) and a heart shape (her Valentine).  Carla had just a few layers, but her work is neat, clean and simply pretty.   Carla did a wonderful job coloring her digital image, and adding glitter to the appropriate image pieces.  Congratulations Carla S. !

It's not too late to still play along with this weeks challenge, Best FriendWe've seen some beautiful creations so far, and we'd love to see more!  We'll be back on Saturday with a new challenge, so please come back again!

Best Friend

Happy Saturday!  It's Sharon W. of Designs by Sharon, here, hosting again this week.  I hope everyone is ready to play along with us here @ Our Creative Corner.  First, I have a little housekeeping to take care of.  Last week, I hosted a recipe challenge for a St. Valentine's Day themed challenge.  And well, there were entries that did not follow the recipe.  I'm not sure if was because of the popularity of the theme, or the title, or what.  We all have taken time and energy to both develop and participate in these challenges, and so we ask the same of you, our treasured followers and players.  Second, I would like to say Thank You to our guest designers last week!  They did a wonderful job showing their talents and creativity.  And third, a heart felt thank you for all of you who participated in last week's challenge.  I know the color combination was very creative.

Ok, so now on for this week's challenge; 'Best Friend' is the title and theme.  This week, the challenge is a little more liberal.  Make a paper craft item (card, scrapbook page layout, a 3-D item, an altered item) for a Best Friend! It can be for a birthday, a thank you, or to just let her know she is your best friend!  The only other requirement, is to include a flower!  The flower can be hand-made, an embellishment, or a stamp.  It's your best friend, you decide what works best for your paper craft item.

The guest designer we had scheduled for this week actually joined our design team last week.  But we want to recognize Anita Houston for winning the Top Talent award recently and feature her design team card this week in our guest designer spot.

Hip to Be Square Winner!

A big thanks to everyone who played along with our sketch challenge. It looks like it scared some people away, LOL, but those of you who played along seemed to really love it, which makes me beyond happy! It was tough to choose a winner, but in the end the Top Talent award goes to...

The mix of punches, images and textures on Amy's card is a showstopper. The buttons, pearls and twine add so much interest. She put a lot of detail into this sketch and her effort paid off! Congratulations, Amy!

It's not too late to join in our Valentine's recipe challenge - we've seen some lovely creations so far and we'd love to see more! We'll be back on Saturday with our new challenge so please come back again!

Love is in the Air - A Recipe Challenge (please read the challenge requirements and do not enter if your project does not meet them)

Good Morning! I hope everyone's weekend is off to a good start.  It's Sharon, from Designs by Sharon, and I will be your hostess this week.  Before we get started with a new challenge, let me extend our gratitude to all of you who played along with us in last week's challenge:  Hip to be Square brought to us by the talented Lori Rider.  Everyone did a fabulous job!

And don't forget, we are welcoming five new designers this week so please give a warm welcome to:

Sue Butler - Scrumplescrunch
Anita Houston - The Artful Maven Haven
Marcy Kaminski - En Papillote Arts
Irena Kowalczyk (aka Rudlis) - Love, Life and Crafts
Meihsia Liu - Simply Paper Crafts

Now onto this week's challenge.  My goal for this challenge was to inspire you to create something romantic and beautiful for St. Valentine's Day.  So, here it is!  This week's challenge is entitled, ' Love is in the air'.  Make a St. Valentine's Day paper craft item (card, scrapbook page layout, 3-D item, or an altered item) using the colors Pink, Grey, and Kraft.  Now, I'm a girly-girl, so add some sparkle to your paper craft item (rhinestones, glitter, metal) anything that shines!  And don't forget to include a heart-shape.  Before you think these colors are a bit off, check out what these fabulously talented ladies have created!  Let us inspire you, to create the perfect Valentine!
